Aquaman Reportedly Screened, Here Are The Early Reactions
It has been almost a full year since Zack Snyder's Justice League debuted in theaters, and many fans continue to wonder what the future of the DCEU will look like. With that in mind, one of the most important upcoming films on the DC slate is James Wan's Aquaman, which will give Arthur Curry his first-ever silver screen solo adventure. DC has played the film reasonably close to the chest over the course of its development, but new rumors suggest that some test screenings were recently held in Los Angeles. Collider's Steven Weintraub took to social media and posted:
He may be facing away from us as he shakes his buttocks, but that GIF clearly shows Arthur Curry doing a little dance. As Steven Weintraub laid out in his Twitter post, Aquaman reportedly screened in Los Angeles this weekend, and while we don't know much about the rumored test screening, it sounds like "good things" may have come out of it.
Steven Weintraub was not the only person who heard about those rumored Aquaman screenings. In fact, Omega Underground's Christopher Marc similarly took to social media after those reported screenings and noted that the movie is apparently good, but not a masterpiece. He wrote:
Finally, one interesting comparison that could help color the reaction to Aquaman is the one made by KC Walsh. Addressing the rumored screenings of the film, Walsh wrote that Aquaman might have quite a bit in common with the Phase 1 films from the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
Aquaman tells the tale of Arthur Curry and his struggle to balance his human side with his destiny as the King of Atlantis. Returning to the undersea kingdom, he finds himself forced to team up with Queen Mara in a battle against his half-brother Orm, as well as a mysterious and armor-clad surface dweller named Black Manta. Much has already been said about the fact that the film will offer up a locale that we really haven't seen in the DCEU, and comment made about the sheer technology on display promise something very unique.
Audiences will get a chance to see what all of the hype is about for themselves later this year when Aquaman premieres in theaters on December 21. Make sure to keep it here for more updates related to the upcoming DCEU adventure, and until we learn more about the film, you can head over to our 2018 movie premiere guide to read up on all of this year's most exciting cinematic outings!
