Dragons are a big part of pop culture right now thanks to Game of Thrones, which set a new bar for what dragons (or wyverns) can see as soon as onscreen. Although Godzilla: King of the Monsters doesnt feature a dragon in the acknowledged sense either, Ghidorah is dragon-like and consequently couldnt be as soon as new dragons, as the films production designer Scott Chambliss explained:
Ghidorah is from marginal planet and hes basically the heavy in the film. One of the challenges was, were inundated as soon as dragons in our culture right now.
