What Is Disney Movie Club? Is It Worth It?

What Is Disney Movie Club? Is It Worth It?

Disney has a lot going on at the movies right now. With Avengers: Endgame well on its way to becoming the highest-grossing film of all time, along with Aladdin, The Lion King, Toy Story 4, Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker, Frozen 2, and several more titles expected to make a whole lot moolah along the way, it is no surprise that Disney is finding more and more ways to allow movie-lovers to explore the ever-evolving archive of movies.

With a treasure trove of movies available under Disney's reliable name, there is no shortage of great movies available through Disney. With that in mind, would it be worth securing a membership to Disney Movie Club? Let's take a look at what the service offers.

How Does Disney Movie Club Work?Through Disney Movie Club, you sign up to join a membership program that allows you to buy Disney movies on both DVD and Blu-ray at a discounted price. The general gist goes like this: Through the service, you get four movies for $1 each, plus free shipping. Sounds pretty sweet, right? From there, you will have two years to buy five more movies at regular price. Every four weeks, you'll be sent a feature Disney movie, which you are allowed to choose or skip according to your preferences.

When you sign up, you get the choice of whether you want to receive Blu-rays or DVDs. DVDs are typically priced around $19.95, while Blu-rays are often $29.95. It should be noted, when you sign up newer releases might not be included as "available" sections. Though they typically become available a few months after their original release date. Once they do become available, the new releases should be counted towards your commitment.

What Does Disney Movie Club Cost? While there isn't exactly a set price for the Disney Movie Club, you can figure out what you're spending if you do a quick number crunch. As it was mentioned earlier, if you pay for a Blu-ray, that's roughly $30 for a title. Through Disney Movie Club, you're expected to get around nine movies before you can call it quits. So, you're looking to spend about $149.75 (plus taxes, most likely) for the service, at the very least. That's not counting the dollar you'd spend for the initial four-movie bundle you'll get when you start, of course.

What Is Disney Movie Club VIP?After your commitment and your membership agreement has been fulfilled, you will automatically be enrolled in the Disney Movie Club VIP program. Through the VIP membership, you will be eligible for even more special deals, offers and discounts, including some benefits that are only available through this service. These deals will become known to the costumer in full once they become VIP members. But it should be noted that if you become a VIP member, you will still need to respond to Feature Title offers to accept and decline as you would through the normal membership.

Can You Cancel Disney Movie Club?Yes. If you want to cancel your Disney Movie Club membership, what you need to do is call a Disney Movie Club cast member at the following number: 1-800-362-4587. From there, you would tell them that you wish to cancel your Disney Movie Club membership. There is a Disney movie cast member who will be able to help you between the hours of 9 AM to 9 PM Monday-through-Friday, Eastern Time.

And it should be noted that you will want to be as clear and concise as possible, to make sure it's known that cancelling your membership is your final decision. Also, be sure to save your confirmation that your membership is cancelled. There should be a letter sent in the mail that confirms that your membership has been terminated.

What Credit Card Payments Are Accepted For Disney Movie Club?In order to pay for a membership through the phone or online, you must use a credit card. The service accepts all the following credit card companies: Visa, MasterCard, American Express and Discover Card. Other credit card services are not likely to be accepted, though you can check with your local company or with a representative with Disney Movie Club to make sure that's the case.

Should You Get Disney Movie Club? It's ultimately up-to-you, but if you're a Disney movie lover and you buy most of the studio's movies anyway, it's not a bad deal. If you're someone who only get a Disney title like, say, a Frozen DVD or Avengers: Infinity War on Blu-ray here-and-there, though, it might not be entirely worth your while. Regardless, if you have the disposal income to buy a lot of movies on DVD and Blu-ray, particularly if you pride yourself in your Disney collection and you're always making sure you fill your shelf space with the latest movie titles from the Mouse House, you would probably get a good deal out of this service, truth be told. Look into it.

Nevertheless, if you are a bargain hunter, and you want to get the best deals you can on these movies, you might want to give it a second look. As I mentioned earlier, if you're simply trying to get the best deal on The Lion King DVD or another one-off title, you'll be better off trying to find the movie elsewhere. This is a service that rewards you for spending full value on select titles, staying true to your brand commitment, and buying several titles from the Disney archive. Like we said earlier, it depends on what you want. If you buy a lot of Disney DVDs/Blu-rays, you might be getting a lot of bang for your buck. But if you just want to shop for some good deals on popular movie titles, there are certainly other alternatives.

It should also be noted there are a few Disney titles that appear to be available only through the Disney Movie Club, though it's unclear if that will change once Disney+ allows viewers to watch a number of different titles through the newfound streaming service. In any case, there are definitely advantages and disadvantages to getting Disney Movie Club. Weigh your options based and make the decision that works best for you. See What Keanu Reeves Could Look Like As Wolverine

See What Keanu Reeves Could Look Like As Wolverine

Years before the Marvel Cinematic Universe brought serialized storytelling to the mainstream, the superhero genre was in its relative humble beginnings with Bryan Singer's X-Men. That franchise is still going strong, with the upcoming Dark Phoenix continuing the main narrative, while spinoffs like Deadpool and The New Mutants help flesh out the expanded universe.

The X-Men franchise recently lost its main star, as Hugh Jackman retired from playing Wolverine with James Mangold's Logan. But Disney's upcoming merger with 20th Century Fox has many hoping Wolverine would be recast, and finally brought into the MCU. Keanu Reeves recently revealed that he's got a passing interest in playing Wolverine, and now an artist has rendered Reeves as the character, check it out:

Is anyone else nerding out right now? This image shows what Keanu Reeves might look like as Wolverine in the MCU, and it's pretty epic. Of course, the odds of him wearing Logan's claws is pretty thin.

The above image was rendered by artist Boss Logic. Whenever superhero news or casting rumors begin making the rounds of the internet, Boss Logic usually ends up crafting his own version of that character. It's a way for the fandom to imagine actors taking on iconic superhero roles, especially since most of the casting choices never come to fruition.

Still, seeing Neo dressed up like Wolverine is the crossover that geek culture didn't expect. And Keanu certainly looks badass in the role. The version pictured shows Logan after a battle, with fresh wounds slowly healing. The slashes on his forehead allow his adamantium skull exposed, which is an especially cool detail to include in the rendering.

While Keanu Reeves might not be the first actor that comic book fans would associate with the fan favorite X-Men, his prior action experience surely gives the actor the experience to wield Logan's slaws. The version pictured is a bit older and more experienced, similar to Reeves' appearance in the John Wick franchise. Reeves gets in great shape and goes through intense training to play the hitman/dog lover, and that same bloodlust could easily be applied to Wolverine's rage.

Of course, John Wick isn't the only time Keanu Reeves has become an iconic action star. He's perhaps best known for his role as Neo in The Matrix trilogy, where Reeves performed some of the most iconic action sequences in recent history. The use of wire work and slow motion has become commonplace in the years since, and Reeves' experience in The Matrix would likely inform a hypothetical performance as Wolverine.

It should be fascinating to see what happens to the current X-Men franchise once the deal with Disney is finalized. While moviegoers are eager to see the mutants enter the Marvel Cinematic Universe, it's a logistical nightmare. Will the same timeline and actors be transferred into the property? Or will Disney recast and bring new adaptations of the team to the massive universe? Only time will tell.

Dark Phoenix will arrive in theaters to continue the X-Men timeline on June 7th, 2019. In the meantime, check out our 2019 release list to plan your trips to the movies in the New Year.

Why Deadpool 2s Writers Decided To Name The Film Deadpool 2

Why Deadpool 2s Writers Decided To Name The Film Deadpool 2

This is a very exciting month for cinephiles and nerd culture enthusiasts. We're currently 2/3 into some major blockbuster releases. It started with Avengers: Infinity War and Solo: A Star Wars Story is almost upon us, but this weekend is all about the Merc with the Mouth. After two years of waiting, Deadpool 2 has finally arrived in theaters, complete with the colorful cast of characters and the titular antihero. Given the wild success o the original film, the pressure was certainly on to deliver a sequel. Star/producer/writer Ryan Reynolds recently revealed he didn't think the title of Deadpool 2 was great, although co-writers Paul Wernick and Rhett Reese actually expressed the opposite to CinemaBlend. When Eric Eisenberg spoke to the duo on the red carpet, the writers revealed Deadpool 2 was the only real option, saying:

Rheese: I think we contemplated the idea of doing one of those silly titles. But it's been done for 20 years now and it just felt a little bit like a cliche and maybe beneath us. So we decided let's just keep it Deadpool 2.Wernick: Strangely, calling it Deadpool 2 made it fresh to us.

It looks like Paul Wernick and Rhett Reese were excited about a superhero movie without the fancy or long titles, and therefore loved Deadpool 2. It's simple, says exactly what you're going to get, and allows the movie to continually surprise its audience. It's too bad Ryan Reynolds doesn't seem quite as happy with the sequel's name. There is certainly a refreshing honesty about Deadpool 2's title, especially as superhero movies and action films so often have long, teasy titles. The Avengers, Captain America, and Jurassic World franchises don't go simply by numbers, but have subtitles that tease each film's plot. Rather than Deadpool 2: The Chimichanga of Destiny, the highly anticipated sequel opted for a cleaner name.Of course, the Deadpool franchise is also synonymous with its wit and ability to poke fun at the genre. As such, the lack of a joke in Deadpool 2's title is potentially a missed opportunity for a joke. It seems like the sequel could have been given a subtitle as well, perhaps one with the title character's many double entendres. Deadpool 2 throws jokes at the audience constantly, so its surprising that the sequel's title didn't feature any jokes. You can check out Eric Eisenberg's conversation with Paul Wernick and Rhett Reese below.

While Ryan Reynolds might not agree with Deadpool 2's writers on the film's title, it's clear that's where their problems stop. The film itself has been met with massively positive critical acclaim, and is poised to make some serious money at the box office.Deadpool 2 is in theaters now. Be sure to check out our 2018 release list to plan your next trip to the movies.

When Rian Johnson's New Star Wars Trilogy Could Come Out

By  at July 01, 2022  , , ,  No comments
When Rian Johnson's New Star Wars Trilogy Could Come Out

Solo: A Star Wars Story may be fresh in our minds (well, some of our minds), but the Star Wars machine has no off switch. Fans will have to wait until December 2019 to see the conclusion of Star Wars: Episode IX and the conclusion to the Skywalker saga as a whole. After that, it's anyone's guess what's next on the list, but Rian Johnson's new trilogy will no doubt be near the top of Lucasfilm's to-do list. As to when we can expect to see the first movie in the series, it won't be anytime soon, but producer Ram Bergman just gave a tentative window of two years.

I can't tell you because we don't know yet. Maybe in two years; it's just in the early stages.

Before Star Wars: The Last Jedi was released, Lucasfilm decided to give director Rian Johnson the keys to the kingdom and announced that Johnson would be creating an entirely new series of Star Wars movies completely divorced from the Skywalkers and all their drama. It was exciting news, but we've still got plenty of time before the first movie makes it to theaters. The project is still in the very early stages of development, so it's likely not coming to theaters too soon, but producer Ram Bergman, who worked on Last Jedi and will be producing the new trilogy, told From The Grapevine that the first movie could be arriving in two years.

Lucasfilm likes to release one Star Wars film a year. This year it was Solo and 2019 will cycle back into the main series with Episode IX. Assuming that the studio follows the same pattern, a spin-off film will release in 2020. (Perhaps it will be about Boba Fett or the rumored Obi-Wan prequel?) Then, potentially following that we could get the new film in Rian Johnson's trilogy, unless Lucasfilm and Disney decide to forgo the spin-off and get right into the new stuff.

Keep in mind that Johnson is creating all of this material from scratch so it could take longer to pin down, as well. Ram Bergman also said:

It's a completely new trilogy that writer-director Rian Johnson, my partner, is going to create. It's all new characters. Everything is new.

Writing a regular Star Wars movie with all the characters in place is already hard enough, so I wouldn't be surprised if Johnson takes his time in the scripting process to make sure that everything works before the studio commits to filming anything. Regardless, we've got a fair amount of waiting to do before we can expect to learn more concrete details about the project.
